American astronomer and planetary scientist Carl Sagan said it beautifully:
“The cosmos is within us. The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
We love this concept so much—because it encapsulates a profound truth about the interconnectedness of all life and the universe itself.
And so we’re adopting it as our company slogan, that “We are all made of star stuff.”
It’s going on all the hoodies. (No, seriously, it is—scroll to the end to see our hoodie design.)
For Moonbeam, a company dedicated to diverse children’s storytelling in literature and media, the slogan reflects our belief in the power of narratives to connect people and illuminate the shared human experience.
The idea that we all come from the same, cosmic place, and that we each have something celestial within us, is such an enlightening and empowering concept.
As stars form the building blocks of everything in the cosmos, our stories, like beams of light, have the potential to inspire, uplift, and unite.
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and been captivated by the gentle glow of the moon? That's the feeling we aim to evoke with our brand—a sense of child-like wonder, possibility, and endless exploration.
Which brings us to a bit of unpacking behind our company name.
We carefully selected our company name so it would be more than just an identifier—it's a reflection of our core values and aspirations.
Just like a moonbeam illuminates the darkness, we strive to shed light on stories, characters and ideas that might otherwise go unnoticed.
A moonbeam represents something magical and universal. It's a reminder that even in dark times, there's always a glimmer of hope and beauty to be found. Our mission is to harness that light and share it with the world through our creative endeavors in publishing, film, television and new media.
And now, without further ado, we are thrilled to share our new brand aesthetic.
Recently, we shared our experience working with a talented Louisiana-based illustrator and designer Abigail Fox to form our brand identity. We shared about this iterative process in a previous newsletter, and crowd-sourced on our social media for feedback on different logo and color palette feels.
Here is what we landed on.
And check out the new brand look applied to business cards and email signatures, and of course, who could forget HOODIES!
So, what do you think?
We’re looking forward to building upon our brand’s foundation, as we scale our venture with the good work we’re doing ahead.
Thanks for reading,
Jesse & Rebecca
